Office Pens and Office Stuff….

Today I finished the office pen project I’ve been working on. It’s obvious because I’m at the end of the process when I finally get to blog about it. I started off with a vision of creating cute pens one can use for their office, home or business. I came up with these 3 sets and I’ve named them all.

#2: Pink Ladies

#3: Sandy Beach

Making these was not hard at all. It’s fun for me to create all this cute stuff and it’s therapeutic for me. I find peace and happiness in creating all of my pieces. It honestly doesn’t feel like work for me, which is great!

What does feel like work is what happens after the fun….taking pictures, editing pictures, posting to Facebook, Instagram, and Etsy. Then writing these blogs LOL.

As long as I stick to the plan, eventually orders come in and then I have to recreate some of my art and print shipping labels and find the most economical way of shipping orders out in a safe way so orders don’t get damaged.

It’s literally all in that order. You now know my secret business strategies. =P It’s not always easy, it’s time consuming and tedious. But, it has to get done. And truth be told, I’m not complaining =D Here’s a few shots of pens that didn’t make it into a set:

Fancy Office Pens

Have you ever walked into an office and seen a flowerpot full of those cute pens with the fake flowers on them?  I’ve been wanting to create these flower pen sets to add to my Etsy shop.

This past week I took advantage of all the back to school sales and stocked up on pens. I used rhinestones and neutral colored paper which are both sold at Michael’s.

I used my Cameo Silhouette 3 to cut out the petals. After I assembled the flower onto the pen, I used washi tape instead of the green floral tape to wrap around the pen.

I still need to finalize all the details regarding how the sets will be sold and also take proper pictures. Hopefully, I can have this up by the end of next week.

Mermaid Highchair Banner…

IMG_6621

Mermaid themed birthday’s are in right now and I finally got around to making my version of a highchair banner. I grew up on Disney films such as The Little Mermaid and I knew that I wanted my mermaid to be the one and only Ariel for this project.

IMG_6629

I started off with the blue and gold pennants using my Cameo Silhouette 3 cutting machine. Then I added the red cardstock to make Ariel and the letters for my seashell.

IMG_6627

Everything on this banner was layered on. You can imagine how tedious it is to glue on those thin strips of gold glitter paper to the cardstock. I’m very careful not to leave any visible glue residue, I use a scraper to remove any glue that sticks out.

I’m working on my photography skills, so I really have to practice my staging. But, I think with more practice I’ll be getting there. Pretty soon I will be able to have content just as good as the best of them hahaha. Watch out world!!

Minnie Mouse Highchair Banner

IMG_6548

Aren’t first birthdays just extra special?? Of course they are. First of all, a birthday bash is costly and the host enjoys it the least! Because of this, many people (including myself) only throw big birthday parties for milestone birthdays…first birthdays included.

IMG_6542

This banner is shorter than what I usually make because this is intended to be used on a highchair. It’s about 24” for the length of the pennants and has an additional 11” of ribbon on each side. All of the shapes were cutout using my Cameo Silhouette 3 machine.

The number can be customized to all ages, and the ribbon can be made longer for a larger hanging area. The colors go beautifully together and I really like using glitter paper because it pops out in photo’s.

This item is now available on my Etsy shop:

DIY Photo Frame…

For those of you that follow me on Instagram @Jazelle86, you saw the sneak peek of this project I started last week.

I started off with a poster board I bought at Michaels during their 2 for $3 sale. Then I used a blade to cut out the frame.  I left 2” on each side and 6” on the bottom. After my frame was cut out, I used gold spray paint on both sides and let dry overnight.

I used my Cameo Silhouette 3 to cut out the banners, letters, vines and Minnie shape. Most of the flowers were made by hand. I even painted some paper to get the coral colored roses.

I started off gluing the letters to the banners and then I placed those on the poster board first with hot glue. Then I added the Minnie pinwheel followed by the flowers, vines and leaves.

The photo frame looks amazing with the flash because it stands out and shimmers in your photo. These pictures were all taken with an iPhone so it would closely resemble what it would look like in real life and not a professionally staged photo shoot.

Thank you for stopping by, catch ya next time. 💋

Canvas Art

Michaels had a sale on their canvas packs today and I went in on it!! 😂

So of course I put my Silhouette Cameo straight to work and started cutting some vinyl. My first piece is for a makeup room or a makeup 💄 area. I really like the lashes and lips 👄. Soo cute!

Next, was a piece I’ve been wanting to make and finally got the chance to. This “Home” piece resembles the sleeping beauty castle in Disneyland and I thought it was really cute for all the Disney freaks out there.

As you can see this is not a large canvas, I chose the smaller size because I wanted to try this out before I created larger pieces. This is about 8’x10′, but it looks really nice combined with other photo frames the same size.

I even added a new vinyl decal to my machine!!  Lol. It was a really fun project… check out my Etsy store (Jazelle86) to view some of my items that are for sale.

Wonder Woman Frame…

@Silhouette.usa created a contest and each participant was able to share a Wonder Woman project via Instagram in order to gain an extra entry.  I created a Wonder Woman frame for a coffee station/bar.

The Silhouette Studio recently changed the whole look in the latest update. So during the first step, which is the design phase, I had to learn where everything was. I’m glad I took on this project because I got to practice with the new software display.

Next, I had to figure out which colors I would go with. I knew that I wanted to use a pattern and it had to be yellow or gold. Luckily I had this lemon wedge pattern and it paired nicely with the darker colors.  I had an old white bordered frame that’s got some texture and imperfections so it gives the frame a grungy look.

The finished product! (Above)

This is a cute little addition to the coffee station/bar. It fits nicely since the frame itself is small, roughly about 8’x10′ in size. Hopefully I win a little something in the contest. Wish me luck!! 😁

Baby Boy “Baby” banner.

I recently finished this baby boy banner for a baby shower. At first I wasn’t too sure how it would turn out, especially because there’s not a lot of items available for teddy bear themed showers! It’s always fun and challenging coming up with new designs, and I’m happy that this turned out super cute.

I knew that I didn’t want to put flowers on this banner because flowers add a very feminine touch to the project. So I tried the pinwheels and I’m glad that it worked out well for this specific project.

The teddy bear theme turned out to be a fitting theme for a baby boy! Matching invitations are soon going to be out for delivery. 🤗

Photo shoots for your Etsy listings??

IMG_2732

I recently started selling some of my projects on Etsy.com. I must say that it has been pretty challenging to keep up with all that comes along with starting your own online shop. First off,  I have to say that Etsy really does have a lot of helpful information to get you started and to hopefully create a successful business.

IMG_2741

One of the most important things that I have learned is that you have to put a lot of effort into taking some nice photo’s. I will admit that this is something I am still working on as I do not consider myself a professional photographer. I would recommend browsing around some of Etsy’s more successful shops and check out the type of photo’s they are using to display their items.

Check out my photo below:

img_2698It’s Kind of like when you see an average persons home, you really want to aim for the “Model Home” Lol!!!   It is a challenge to get a good photo, but its not impossible to sell on Etsy if your photo of your items is not professionally done. So don’t be discouraged if you start of like me. I did get my first sale and as you can see, I’m just your average Joe Photographer!!
